The AI job hack

What if there was a company, which developed an AI and then went to sell it to individuals to do their job and take a % cut of their salary in exchange.

Without anybody knowing…

…apart from the company and the individuals.

Obviously would not work for every job but there are many that it would be perfect for.

All the individual would have to do would be to turn up for some meetings and take a few calls to keep up appearances but the day to day stuff that could be machine learned and replicated (or done better?) would be done for them…

… and they would still get the full salary.

Perhaps even argue a pay rise better.

Imagine a world, with 50% of the jobs being done by a machine(s), the companies no even knowing about, going on about their business as usual – probably seeing amazing increases in productivity without understanding why.

Here’s why this is actually a possibility.

Companies and large organisations are averse to change.

The larger the company, the slower it is to change direction.

Sure, there are some companies already taking the plunge and replacing humans with AI but in proportion it’s very small. It makes the news, but just because it does not get reported, does not change the fact that`the other 99% of other companies are running on humans.

Individuals (some, not all, of course) are more prone to change and find it easier to make them – with less being affected, especially if the changes are small.

Many are already using AI happily – AI personal assistants, appointment booking bots, home devices like Amazon Echo and many more.

This penetration will keep happening and humans will be more and more comfortable using AI, with the huge leap like letting an AI do it for you not being far around the corner.

There are even some musings on this theme (although the film is about something else entirely) in the movie Her.

Place your bets now.
